Strifehaven came about when as a result of developing a game that utilized a esoteric means of determining player movements and other scenarios without the use of dies.

Adapting a special form of “cops and robbers” the main objective of the game was for two competing teams (“police” and “criminals”) meet all their goals in a linear order.

Rather than rolling dies to determine the amount of moves they can make, players rely on scores received from shooting at a gun range paper target with a foam dart gun.

The setup is also used in shootouts when members’ pieces from opposing teams encounter each other on the same square. Once scores are tallied, those with the highest survive or gain advantages.

Variables influence targeting cards or specially-marked tiles (red or blue) can affect shooting: the distance players must stand from the target, amount of ammunition, even access to a laser sight.
